New initiative: The Housing Community Gardening Team
This is a new service set up by the Housing Department and supported by Cllr Champion to improve the quality of horticulture and biodiversity on housing estates. Working with and supporting residents in using outdoor communal spaces on estates for gardening and food growing.
There is no additional charges associated with the team and the work they do.
Having visited the estate the team has identified some basic maintenance issues that need doing.
This includes regenerative pruning, weeding and generally tidying up.
The team will start work on the garden from week beginning the 7th of March.
There will be no petrol machinery used.
During March the team will be carrying out a survey to better understand what interest there is in gardening / food growing on the estate and what ideas residents have for improving the outside areas.
The team can be contacted at HCGT@islington.gov.uk
